ADHD affects one in every 25 adults in North America, with 90% of affected individuals going undiagnosed.

Our group is comprised of adults who either have ADHD or suspect they may have it, and we operate as a self-funded peer-to-peer support community.

Why fit in when you were born to stand out?

Our mission is to promote a shared understanding and acceptance of our ADHD selves as we explore our experiences with kindness and mutual understanding.

As a grassroots, self-funded non-profit organization, we meet online and collaborate on various projects. As a group of neurodiverse individuals, we acknowledge that while we have the potential to achieve incredible things, navigating life can often be challenging for us.

ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is a neurological condition that impacts the parts of the brain that help us plan, focus on, and execute tasks. ADHD symptoms vary by sub-type — inattentive, hyperactive, or combined- impair focus, attention, and impulse control. It affects individuals differently and to varying degrees, impacting academic, professional, relationship, and social aspects. Adult ADHD symptoms can appear as difficulty with time management, procrastination, memory, organization, emotional regulation, and more.

Here’s the Good News

Support and community are freely available. It's common to feel like no one truly understands you and to fall into the patterns you've been taught to mask your symptoms for your entire life. However, individuals with neurodivergent traits are often compassionate, curious, intuitive, adaptable, intricate, creative and often, pretty funny. Sure, we may get a new bank card once a month, but with proper support, we are the world's artists, athletes, entrepreneurs, thought leaders and innovators. We can achieve amazing things that leave those without such traits baffled.

“The ADHD Diagnosis is Life Changing for Adults. To discover you’ve spent your whole life wrestling this invisible opponent… You had no idea what was sabotaging you or that it’s even been there undermining you for your whole life, 24/7. You just assumed life is this hard for everyone.”

A Little About Us 👋

Valerie and David established a support group in 2020 to connect individuals with ADHD and offer them peer assistance. They originally planned meeting venues, frequency, and membership before the Covid pandemic. However, when physical meetings were not feasible, this group was formed online. Since then, the community has expanded to include over 400 members.

Our platform serves as a haven where members can exchange experiences, stories, and words of encouragement, knowing they are not alone. Our original co-founders:

Valerie McIntyre-Baird

David Springbett

It's important to note that medical professionals do not lead our support group, but rather we’re a peer-to-peer support community of diverse and rather complex, creative, and caring individuals :)
